Privacy Policy
Effective Date: July 20, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Verbi ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and discloses your information when you use our mobile application (the "App").
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information to provide and improve our App:
- Personal Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, username, and authentication identifiers (via Google Firebase). You may optionally provide a bio, gender, age range, city, and ZIP/postal code. Optional demographic details (such as gender and age range) are used only in aggregated, de-identified form for the opinion insights described in Section 4 — they are never sold or shared in a way tied to your identity.
- User Generated Content: We collect and store the arguments, debates, and comments you post within the App.
- Debate & Opinion Data: We record the sides you take, positions you argue, votes you cast, and topics you engage with. This is used both to run the App and, in aggregated and de-identified form, to produce opinion and sentiment insights (see Section 4).
- Audio Data: If you use the voice-to-text feature to dictate arguments, your audio input is processed ephemerally by your device's speech recognition engine to convert it to text. We do not store raw audio recordings on our servers.
- Location Data: We collect approximate location data (e.g., region/country) derived from your IP address to enable the "World Map" and "Conquest" features. If you use the Local News feature, we also collect and store the ZIP/postal code you provide in order to show news relevant to your area.
- Purchase History: We track your subscription status and consumable purchases (e.g., "Logic Bombs") to manage your premium access.
- Device Information: We collect device identifiers (such as Installation IDs) for analytics, security, and push notifications.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following purposes:
- To facilitate debates, community interactions, and the global conquest game features.
- To deliver news relevant to you, including local news based on your ZIP/postal code.
- To process payments and manage subscriptions via RevenueCat.
- To analyze content using AI (Anthropic Claude) for scoring logic, evidence, and civility.
- To produce aggregated, de-identified opinion and sentiment insights, which we may share or sell to third parties (see Section 4).
- To display advertising within the App (see Section 5).
- To send you push notifications regarding game turns, replies, and territory alerts.
3. Third-Party Services
We share data with trusted third-party service providers to help us operate the App. These partners are restricted from using your data for any other purpose.
- Google Firebase: Used for authentication, database storage, analytics, and crash reporting. Read Firebase Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat: Used to process and manage in-app purchases and subscriptions. Read RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
- Anthropic (Claude): Used to analyze text content for quality scoring and to generate neutral topic briefings. Data sent to the AI is used solely for these features and is not used by the provider to train its models.
- Advertising partners: If advertising is enabled, ad networks may receive device and usage signals to serve and measure ads. See Section 5.
4. Aggregated & De-Identified Opinion Insights
A core part of Verbi is understanding what people think about the issues of the day. We combine debate activity — the sides taken, vote splits, topics, and categories — with coarse, optional demographic buckets (such as gender, age range, and the first three digits of a ZIP code / broad region) into aggregated, de-identified datasets and reports (for example, "how a state's users split on a given issue," or "how an age group leans within a category").
- These insights are aggregated and statistical. They contain no name, email, or account identifiers, and they do not reveal how any individual voted or argued.
- We apply k-anonymity: any group smaller than a minimum size is suppressed, so results can never be traced to a small, identifiable set of people. Geography is deliberately kept coarse (region / partial ZIP), never a precise address.
- We may share, license, or sell these aggregated insights to third parties such as researchers, media organizations, and brands, including through a data API that authorized partners connect to. The API exposes only the aggregated, k-anonymized data described here.
- We do not sell your personal account information (name, email, or individual message content tied to your identity).
- By using the App and participating in debates, votes, and polls, you consent to your activity being included in these aggregated, de-identified insights.
5. Advertising
Verbi may display advertising, including sponsored placements shown within the feed. Where third-party ad networks are used, they may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve and measure ads in accordance with their own privacy policies. Advertising is clearly labeled as "Sponsored." Users with an active Pro subscription may receive a reduced or ad-free experience.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your personal information only as long as necessary to provide the Service. You may request the deletion of your account and all associated data at any time.
To request account deletion: Please email us at the address below with the subject line "Account Deletion Request". We will process your request within 30 days.
7. Children’s Privacy
Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.
